by | Nov 25, 2022 | General | 0 comments

At Sakata Seed Southern Africa, we have identified the need for basic vegetable farming education across all Southern African countries. In support of upcoming farmers in this region, we have partnered with the well-known South African agricultural media company, FarmSpace, to compile a video series of general tips and discussions on vegetable production.

Viewers can look forward to video content where our experts discuss topics like soil preparation, irrigation, sowing and transplanting, harvesting, and many more significant factors of the various vegetable crops that are produced in this region.

The first video of the series was published on the 21st of November 2022. Viewers can expect new episodes every second week on the Sakata Seed Southern Africa’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.

In the first video of the Sakata Vegetable Production series, we discuss soil preparation and André Groenewald from FarmSpace asks insightful questions like:

  • Why do I need to prepare my soil for vegetable production?
  • Why is it important for me to loosen up my soil?
  • When will I use a ripper?
  • What function do the plough and rotavator have?
  • How important is the firmness of your seedbed?
  • Air gaps in your soil
