In February, Sakata Seed Southern Africa opened their gates to the agricultural industry. From Tuesday 20th to Thursday 22nd commercial farmers from around the country made the trip to Sakata’s trial farm at the Sakata Head office in Lanseria, Johannesburg. Friday 23rd was reserved for students and upcoming farmers.
After being greeted and receiving a bag full of goodies, visitors were escorted around the trial grounds by the relevant Product Specialists, from brassicas, to tomatoes, peppers, root crops and more. The Open Day showcased a huge variety of brand new vegetable varieties as well as some flowers. The visitors had the opportunity to ask relevant questions while they could view, touch and in some cases taste the actual product in the trial field.
