When you think about summer cabbage varieties, Optima is probably one of the varieties that comes to mind. This cultivar was introduced a few years ago as the follow-up to Tenacity, giving it some extremely large shoes to fill. It has done exactly that, and has become a firm favourite with most summer cabbage producers. It has an excellent yield potential and resistance to blackrot infection and has a very good holding ability and uniformity in the field. In these photos, farmer Koos Botha from Kareepoort in the North-West Province had an excellent season with Optima. Well done on producing a good quality crop in a very difficult season, and thank you for your contribution to food security in our beautiful country!
