Onions – Northern Cape

Despite the cold and unfavourable weather conditions in the start of the season, onion producers are progressing well in the Northern Cape region. The onions are kept on the open field under plastic tarps and processed in about three months’ time. This gives the onion time to cure and form the desired tough, straw brown coloured tunics for premium prices on the market.
