On the 7th of September, Sakata Seed Southern Africa hosted an enlightening Farmers’ Day in Komatipoort, Mpumalanga, drawing farmers from across the region. The focus of this particular event was on hot peppers and sweet peppers, showcasing a number of commercial as well as new and upcoming varieties.
In the sweet pepper category, Sakata presented a range of established F1 Hybrid varieties such as Momentum, Cherokee and SVPB1987, alongside exciting newcomers including Shogun* and the Crispy Snacking Pepper range (Crispy Oro*, Crispy Rass*, and Crispy San*). Farmers had the opportunity to explore these options, discovering unique qualities that align with their preferences and production goals.
Sakata has significantly expanded its hot pepper seed varieties over the past few years. Sakata showcased a range of F1 Hybrid hot peppers, including Pathfinder*, Savuti* and new cayenne, bird’s eye and habanero types. These varieties, combined with trusted F1 Hybrid commercial varieties like Rajah, Fury, and Spicy Slice, provided farmers with a comprehensive overview of their options in the hot pepper category.
