Hoshi is a short day onion with good adaptability. This onion is successfully planted in the Northern Cape as well as the Western Cape producing firm bulbs and excellent yields. Hoshi also performed well in areas in the Free State withstanding temperatures below 0°C in the winter months while producing marketable bulbs. Hoshi has a vigorous root system allowing the variety to overcome damage done by pink root.
