Hagen Horsthemke, a farmer from Hochfeld, Namibia, was very happy with another successful crop of butternut Pluto and pumpkin Sampson. On 2.2ha of Pluto, he was able to harvest and sell 120 tons of first-grade fruit, giving him a yield of 55 tons per hectare. On Sampson, he harvested 90 tons of first-grade fruit from 1.8ha, giving him a yield of 50 tons per hectare. Keeping in mind that this is not his total yield, but only his first-grade fruit, it goes to show the high yield potential of these two varieties.
