Ranguru* is a medium maturing, intermediate day brown onion. Ranguru* is a uniform globe-shaped onion with dark brown skin, thin necks and good storage capabilities. This variety has a high yield potential, producing medium sized bulbs (60 – 80 mm). Ranguru* has a high tolerance against bolting and is suitable for production in the Western Cape and Limpopo with very specific sowing slots. This variety also has a very high resistance to Pink root (Phoma terrestris). Ranguru* is an attractive onion that excels the quality of other onions marketed in this segment. Ranguru* is suitable for direct seeding as well as seedling transplants.

• Recommended for production around the 23.5° latitude line, Tropic of Capricorn.
• Suggested sowing period is from 25 November to 10 December in areas of Limpopo province
