During the last week of July 2022, Sakata visited Lachlan’s (Sakata’s preferred seed distributer in Kenya) promoter, Monica, who works in the Kinangop region. Monica promotes Sakata cabbages for Lachlan, including Powerslam F1, Grandslam F1 and Conquer F1 cabbage.
At the stockist in Njabini, the owner, Lucy Wanjiru, sings the praises of the new cabbages which are becoming very popular with the farmers in this region. She has two stockists nearby including the Farmlink Agrovet.
Lucy is also a farmer and has planted a trial of Granslam F1, which she is very impressed with. She confirmed that she will be planting Granslam F1 in the next season In Kinangop again!
In the below photos: Lucy Wanjiru, the stockist and farmer with Grandslam F1 on her farm.
Joe Mwamgi, in the photo below, is another farmer in Kinangop who loves the Grandslam F1 variety. What stood out for Joe about Grandslam’s is its large head, deep green colour and excellent field holding ability. During the next season, which could be wet, he will be mainly planting Conquer F1 cabbage as it has a strong field tolerance to disease outbreaks during the rains and because the Conquer F1 Variety is in very high demand. Joe is a loyal Sakata follower; he has high praise for our cabbage varieties launched and will continue to plant them going forward.
