Quantum has in recent years become more and more popular amongst butternut growers, up to where it is now the number one selling F1 hybrid butternut variety in South Africa. It gives the perfect medium-sized fruit during summer, which is the requirement for most retailers and fresh produce markets. These photos were taken at Drotskie Broers near Tom Burke, Limpopo. They have been planting Quantum for several years now, and are extremely satisfied with the high yields and excellent uniformity of the fruit. They also manage to harvest several times from the same planting, as the plants are very vigorous and can produce over a very long time.
