Sakata is in the process of constructing a state of the art warehouse on their premises in Lanseria. The new warehouse will enable Sakata to consolidate the vast majority of stock holding where storage conditions will be optimal. Sakata has also implemented advanced technology to their advantage by installing a hydronic underfloor heating system underneath the floor of the factory area with the aim of keeping the temperature in the factory at around 21°C which is ideal for the comfort and efficiency of the factory staff.
Sakata’s premises is located within the Cradle of Humankind, which is a world heritage site and with the new warehouse in view, Sakata made every effort to work within the a strategic environmental management plan guidelines of the world heritage site, by making use of an archaeological impact assessment, an environmental impact assessment as well as a visual impact assessment. All of the above were considered and one of the aims was to make most efficient use of the built footprint to set the building into the surrounding landscape making it as unobtrusive as possible.
The new warehouse is just another way in which Sakata is striving to maintain and improve the quality of our seed by storing it in optimal conditions as well as streamlining our logistics procedures to the advantage of all our customers.
