When you select a variety, be sure you know its characteristics like when it should be planted, and how long it will take before you can expect to start harvesting the product. Not knowing these facts about your varieties can turn out to be detrimental. On the other hand – knowing what your variety can do for you and managing it accordingly could result in consecutive profitable seasons. Ares, for example, is a broccoli variety specifically selected for its excellent performance in summer. It can handle the heat and matures much faster than any other broccoli variety in our portfolio. If you plan according to its fast cycle, you will harvest beautiful heads perfectly suited to the pre-pack market (as shown in the pictures). As soon as the heads become overmature, the beads will turn brown and become necrotic and rot. Be sure you know your varieties – manage it according to its best characteristics and be aware of possible challenges it might have. This will ensure your best chances for success.
