Sakata Seed sponsored soccer kits to a local soccer club in the Kimberley area. The soccer team was an initiative of Marius Muller, Sakata’s Sales Representative in the Northern Cape region and one of the community leaders, Jack Goeieman.
With unemployment figures rising by the day, especially in the rural areas under the younger population, they decided to get the young people in the area of the streets and onto the soccer field. The township in the area is called Rooikoppies and from here the soccer club, Rooikoppies United, was born.
The soccer team is practicing every day and they are proud to represent their community on the soccer field every weekend. This initiative brought the whole community together as everyone gathers beside the soccer field every Sunday to watch the young team play.
