BOBCAT F1 hybrid fresh market cabbage

OUTSTANDING QUALITIES

  • SUMMER VARIETY
  • EARLY MATURING
  • INTERMEDIATE RESISTANCE TO FUSARIUM YELLOWS
  • UNIFORM HEADS

Bobcat takes 80 – 90 days to mature after transplant.  The large, uniform heads are semi-round to round, with a very good head weight of 3.0 – 5.0 kg.  Bobcat’s head matures uniformly which is an advantage during harvesting. The leaves have a characteristic blue-green colour. As Bobcat is a fast grower, holding ability is not as good as the later maturing varieties.  Bobcat’s intermediate resistance to Fusarium yellows (Foc) appear to be as good as that of Optima in the field. Mature heads tolerate cool and frost conditions well.

SPECIAL VARIETAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Avoid early and late sowings in cooler areas and growing through winter in cold areas as bolting may occur
  • Don’t leave heads on the field for too long heads may start to crack
  • Contact area representative for a sowing guide
