Benedict Nsenane is a very successful vegetable farmer in the Nwanedi area in Limpopo, growing amongst other things pumpkin, tomato, watermelon, and butternuts. This season he planted Barnacle Bill, an F1 hybrid Hubbard squash from Sakata. He was very satisfied with the high yields of large, uniform fruit with excellent internal quality.
Over the years, the variety has proved to be a tremendous advantage to growers that require early yields of high-quality fruit, as it matures up to 10 days earlier than the open-pollinated Chicago Warted Hubbard. Well done to Benedict for growing an excellent crop of Hubbard squash.
