Titan F1 hybrid is a Cucurbita moschata type butternut that is widely adapted for all growing regions. It has very strong plants and the overall vigour of this variety tends to make it less susceptible to diseases. Titan has an excellent yield potential, bearing very large, uniform fruit. The fruit has an elongated neck and a very small seed cavity, making it an excellent variety for processing. The average fruit weight in summer is around 2 – 3 kg. Titan has a good internal quality with excellent flavour and has been approved by some of the leading processors.

SPECIAL VARIETAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ideal plant population is 10 000 – 12 000 plants per hectare. We do not recommend more than 15 000 plants per hectare
  • Compared to other varieties, Titan has a high Nitrogen, Potassium and Calcium requirement. We recommend 150 kg N, 200 kg K and 100 kg Ca per hectare over the growing season
